About

Indian Man is a Bristol-based DJ and producer whose sound fuses his Punjabi Sikh heritage with the UK’s underground club culture. Drawing on UK garage, dub, bhangra, and jungle, his music bridges ancestral tradition and contemporary experimentation, threading intergenerational memory into bold, future-facing forms.

His creative practice is rooted in lived experience. While caring for his grandparents, Indian Man began composing late into the night on an old MIDI keyboard left behind by his father’s band. His grandmother’s folk songs and stories became the emotional centre of his work, transforming the family home into a vibrant sonic lab of memory, care, and resistance. This deeply personal period led to breakthrough performances across the UK and abroad, and to a signing with Peter Gabriel’s Real World X.

Now a resident DJ at WOMAD festivals in the UK, Chile, and Gran Canaria, Indian Man has built a global reputation for genre-defying sets that energise diasporic dance floors and disrupt musical boundaries.

His latest work, including the Desi Futurist Approach project, marks a new chapter in his artistic evolution. Developed in the South West where he grew up, this project uses Desi Futurism: a radical, interdisciplinary methodology that reclaims South Asian identity through speculative sound, decolonial storytelling, and grassroots cultural production. The initiative connects heritage with innovation, elevating South Asian creative voices through workshops, collaborations, and new commissions.

His debut album, Gran’s House (Real World X), pays homage to family, migration, and multigenerational creativity. Featuring international collaborators like Emmanuel Jal, La Dame Blanche, and Dobet Gnahoré, the record blends bass-heavy beats with folk melodies and lyrical intimacy, offering a new blueprint for South Asian electronic expression.

Through performances, festivals, policy work, and peer-led workshops, Indian Man continues to champion underrepresented South Asian creatives, building inclusive, intergenerational futures rooted in both local community and global connection.
